Mum and I were driving to the lake on Sunday and what appeared to be a ridiculously large beetle flew in front and then hovered all dramatic-like before tapping our windshield. Beings that I am in an entomology class and am required to compile a bug collection, we stopped to look for this mysterious creature on the side of the road. No likely candidate was encountered but we did find two garter snakes! First garter snake sighting o' the season. Here's one of them. It allowed me to get pretty close. I like the blurred tongue.
