Chasing Rabbits...Still
Yay for the weekend! I am now working Monday thru Thursday. So yay!!
Today was a very productive day. We caught three rabbits! Two recaptures which were transferred back to their original homes and one new one which we transported across the Hogback (a washboardy gravel road that connects Plush to the highway near Lake Abert). He moved A LOT too - about 300 meters back towards the Hogback. Our last two telemetry locations found him sitting under the same sagebrush, about three plants in from the road, so it'll be interesting to see if he homes (so far only one of 27 rabbits have done so). We pulled a ton of traps from unproductive areas today. Yeah, my arms are getting pretty buff.
Life since my weekend in civilization has been pretty uneventful, except for last weekend. Becky, you know what I'm talking about ;) Anyway, Jessa and I are being evicted from our nice newish modular home to the piece-o-crap trailer next door, to make room for a freaking GS-14 who will temporarily work here in Lakeview. OK, so it really doesn't make sense why they should move us, from our settled state here, next door, to the EMPTY trailer. Heaven forbid a GS-14 live in the old trailer...also, Tim of the pygmy rabbit project just moved down here from Hart. Luckily there are three bedrooms. They want us out by Monday, despite the fact he's not getting here until the following Saturday, so they can CLEAN our place. And if you knew Jessa, you'd know there is absolutely no need to. We keep this place nice. Unfortunately they didn't offer to clean the musty place we're moving too. Ok, 'nough ranting. But it is fun.
Tonight I am going to a going away shindig for some biologist moving from BLM to FS. I don't even know him, but Lora invited me and she said it's just an excuse for a party. So yeah. It should be a good time. So happy for the weekend.
