Yay for Becky and Andrew being here!
I drove to the airport..of course I stopped by Wal Mart to get Napoleon Dynamite en route! Rainy and dark, yet again. We took the "less hectic" route (the one that we totally aren't familiar with) and ended up getting very stuck in the lane that contained everyone getting onto I 205..I had missed a couple opportunities to switch lanes and then barely got out right in front of a semi..terrifying. We got in just several minutes after their plane had landed; thank goodness we actually got to greet them as they walked in!
Agonizing aspect of the day: I had been searching around the house for this painting, the last one I worked on in my high school art class, that already had about 12 hours into it, could find it no where, and as it turns out mom compulsively threw it out. Sherry, you remember the mule deer? Yeah, that one. Some things are just unforgiveable.
Is anyone familiar with any of the following bands? Phoenix, The Helio Sequence, Citizen Cope, The Bravery, The Zutons. I've only seen one music video by each but they were intriguing. Next Sunday is the "best of 2004" Subterranean episode. Should be good.

You saw a Helio Sequence video?! I wasn't aware they were getting that big. They're from Portland, and I saw them open for King Black Acid back in November 2000 in Eugene. I likes them. In fact, a guy I hung out with in my dorm knew the guys. Yeah, they're pretty aces, I should get some of their stuff like I've been meaning to for years. So should YOU.

Oh, and I saw Citizen Cope when he opened for Ben Folds back in ummm October 2001. I actually really did not like him. He was even irritating to boot--forcing audience participation on an unwilling audience (apparently no one else was hot on him either). But hey maybe he doesn't suck anymore or something.

Yeah, I've started watching Subterranean after I read about it in your blog. I like Helio Sequence, and their vidio is ultra cool just because it shows Portland. Pheonix seemed alright, But as far as my feelings for Citizen Cope goes, I like to call him "Citizen Crap." Yeah.

Oh...! Your mom threw away the mule deer painting?! :( That's so sad! Yes, I do remember it (and all the time you spent on it). Why did she even think that it would be okay to throw it away? :(

That was me, Sherry, btw, if you couldn't glean it from my comments.

The song by the Helio Sequence was called "Everyone Knows Everyone." I think I might like them too, cool to know they're from Portland. Seems like a good many up-and-coming bands are from Portland..neato.
