I haven't written lately due to the fact that nothing has really been going on in my life. Well, I have an ecology test tomorrow morning, which I feel fairly prepared for..will spend another hour or so reviewing. Then tuesday night I have a stats exam, which I feel better about surprisingly because I just took a previous exam and only missed one. Yay for understanding stats..so far. I know it's going to get tougher, but I may as well bask in the glory of being able to say I'm doing well in a statistics class as of now.
The big thing going on right now is this: I'm actually going to apply to go on an internship in Namibia this summer, to the cheetah conservation fund. I've really started working on the application. It would pretty much be ridiculously amazing if I get to go. They raise Anatolian Shepherd dogs to give to farmers to protect their livestock from cheetahs, and also have captive cheetahs at the center that I'd get to take care of. Occasionally interns get to go out to farms and help pick up trapped cheetahs too. There'll be mundane computer work too, but I think being in Africa amongst wild cheetahs is worth that. I've decided that I have to get a new camera if I go too, because this could be once-in-a-lifetime and I want to be able to capture any wild animals I see. It's going to cost between nine and ten thousand total though, since I'll be earning credit and have to pay for housing, food, and training at the center. And airfare, and passport, and everything else. Time to take out a loan.
Yesterday I was going to go to Portland to hear Laurie Marker talk about the fund, but tickets were sold out (I found this out a couple hours before Matt and I were going to depart). So that was a huge disappointment. So, what do we do instead? Go shopping, of course. We went to Albany to the mall where I proceeded to spend a hundred and thirty dollars on clothes from Old Navy, new headphones, CD-Rs, chocolates, and frozen yogurt. I felt a tad bit guilty, but I figure I only do something like that once or twice a year. To complete the day of splurging, I bought 10 Things I Hate About You and Donnie Darko at Fred Meyer..they were on sale though, so I got them both for around fourteen bucks.
Today I went to First Alternative to obtain essential food supplies. Local AND organic tomatoes! They have a fine selection of really good non high fructose corn syrupy bread there too. I got a cloth shopping bag there last week with a coupon too, so now I can feel less guilty! I'm reusing produce bags too. It really isn't difficult to do if one just gets in the habit and has the bags in a conspicous place so as not to forget them.
Wednesday night = skipping FW leadership meeting to go see The Decemberists!

1. You're going to see The Decemberists??? I'm terribly jealous.
2. If it makes you feel better, I spent about $100 on clothes to take my quals in, $40 at The Body Shop to reward myself post-test, $50 or $60 on a new lamp, $45 on curtains, probably around $50 for stuff at Ross, and this past weekend, $45 on ebay stuff (I decided that I needed a vase). Moving in is always so expensive! One suddenly requires new things to decorate...
3. I really need to start reusing my grocery bags. I keep them all, and always forget to take them with me.
