Today I witnessed our ridiculous rooster's own brand of chivalry: I went to let him and the hen out this afternoon, and brought out a piece of bread which I broke up for them. The hen attacked the pieces vigorously, but when I threw pieces to the rooster, time and time again he'd just pick them up, cluck softly, and drop them in an apparent attempt to catch the hen's eye. He'd actually carry the pieces and drop them by her!
