The art lecture was amusing today. He talked about Bed, Bath, and Beyond bumblebee statues, as well as cost per square ft. for home decor. Then a list of "universally agreed upon examples of bad taste." Fishsticks, aerosol cheese, troll dolls, white lipstick, fake fur..

At five I had a university scholars reception. I got there about 15 minutes early and there was just this vast quantity of edible items on a table. Talking to people ("mingling") and eating is just so awkward. I did drink some sparkling cranraspberry punch which was sickeningly sweet because it wasn't mixed well. I just wanted to laugh..all these really reserved people that didn't really want to talk to anyone just standing around sipping punch (and questioning its nonhomogenized state) and eating asparagus spears and mini sub sandwiches. This was followed by several welcome/expectations speeches, consisting of "new challenges" pep talk. Anyway, that's about the only unusual thing that occurred today.

I wish I wasn't so isolated from everyone. I wish I had adequately good city and freeway driving skills. I just have a feeling that this term is going to be boring, as it has already.

Oh, yesterday it was found out that it's permissible to pitch a tent out back.
